Leadership Appointments Reflect Continued Commitment to Workforce Housing in Nova Scotia

Housing Trust Nova Scotia (HTNS) is pleased to announce its Annual General Meeting (AGM), taking place on May 28th at 4:30 PM at Stewart McKelvey.

This year, HTNS is proud to recognize Louie Lawen, Isaac Hashem, Dan Goodspeed, and Glenn Umlah as Honorary Directors. As Founding Directors in 2009, along with Ross Cantwell and Brian Tabor, their support of non-market workforce housing has helped transform HTNS’s vision into lasting impact, resulting in hundreds of working households across the province gaining access to homes with rents they can manage.

HTNS is honoured to have them continue their service as Honorary Directors, and their experience and insight will continue to inform the organization’s work to expand access to non-market rental housing for Nova Scotia’s workforce.

“The participation of HTNS’ Directors represents thousands of hours of deep expertise and real-world experience,” said Angela Bishop, founding Executive Director and now CEO. “This leadership investment from the private sector directly translates into manageable rents for working households across Nova Scotia and a meaningful impact.” This is a meaningful way for the business community to address a pressing issue and support the workforce they rely on.

For the 2026–2029 term, HTNS welcomes new Directors Cyndy Allen, Kim Hayward, Matthew Doreen, Mark Everett, and Sean Sturge. HTNS also announces the re-appointments of Founding Directors Ross Cantwell and Brian Tabor, whose leadership continues in shaping the organization’s direction.

Additionally, Cesar Saleh and Jeffrey Pinhey have been appointed as Advisory Members, contributing their expertise to support strategic initiatives.

The following members will remain for the 2025–2026 term: Doug Raphael, Charity Carr, Matthew Newell, Lara Ryan, Gregory Kerry, Jenna Williams, Peter Bigelow, Ian Stanley, Marija Mojsilovic Govedarica, Joseph Omoniyi Olowoleye, Megan Atwell, and Kelsie Chiasson.
Together, these appointments reflect HTNS’s continued commitment to strong governance and community-focused innovation in housing across Nova Scotia.
